TUTORS

Dr Amy Cherry BSc. MRes. PhD.

I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1999 with a first class honours degree in Medical Biochemistry and immediately followed this with an MRes. (Masters of Research) in Biomolecular Science at the University of York. I undertook my PhD in the Biochemistry department at the University of Leeds, studying the structures of proteins from the Hepatitis C virus. I am currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institute of Medical Research.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

During my PhD I was actively involved in teaching at the University, to both Biochemistry and Medical students. I also gave private tuition to students of GCSE and A-level Biology and A-level sports science. Following my PhD I spent six months in Malawi teaching primary school mathematics and secondary level biology.

Dr Paul Watton BSc. MSc. PhD.

I graduated from the University of Newcastle with a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics. Following this, I obtained an MSc in Mathematical Logic at the University of Manchester, and then a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Leeds. Currently I am a research fellow at Oxford University working as part of a European consortium engaged in developing computational mathematical models of cerebral anuerysm growth.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

I have privately tutored mathematics to a range of abilities from GCSE to degree level over the past ten years. Recently I spent six months in Malawi teaching mathematics to both primary and secondary school children as well as running courses in mathematics and science for the local teachers. As part of my work at the University of Glasgow I delivered tutorials and taught a component of the level 2 mathematical biology course.

We tutor from our home, close to the town centre of Abingdon. To reach us, leave Abingdon via the Vineyard and turn right at the roundabout into the Radley road. Take the first turning right into Audlett Drive, second left into Reade Avenue, first left into Lee Avenue and third right into Dundas Close.
